Book Review- The Heart Of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson

Hello everyone, I am super happy this month and craving for more and more books after my reading slumps. But thanks to myself cause I have many pending books in my TBR list, So have to complete them first.Coming to the point-Let’s talk about Thr Heart Of Betrayal.

Held captive in the barbarian kingdom of Venda, Lia and Rafe have little chance of escape. Desperate to save Lia’s life, her erstwhile assassin, Kaden, has told the Vendan Komizar that she has the gift, and the Komizar’s interest in Lia is greater than anyone could have foreseen.

Meanwhile, nothing is straightforward: There’s Rafe, who lied to Lia but has sacrificed his freedom to protect her; Kaden, who meant to assassinate her but has now saved her life; and the Vendans, whom Lia always believed to be savages. Now that she lives among them, however, she realizes that may be far from the truth. Wrestling with her upbringing, her gift, and her sense of self, Lia must make powerful choices that will affect her country… and her own destiny.

My Review –

The heart of betrayal is the second book in “The Remnant Series”.The first book was ‘The kiss of deception’ which I absolutely loved.

In The Heart of Betrayal, Lia and Rafe are taken to Venda to live at the mercy of the Komizar. Lia has no allies in Venda, though she starts to build small alliances with unexpected citizens. There is something about Venda that is unlike anything Lia has experienced. Her gift changes and starts taken shape. Lia begins to see things in Venda that she has n seen before. All the while, Lia has drawn the Komizar’s interest, and not a good interest. Rafe lies his way into staying alive, with everyone believing that he is the Royal Emissary of the Dalbreck crown prince. With each passing day, it is clear that there are no rules to survival, and both must do what they can to have a chance at escaping.

I enjoyed the second book too maybe not as much as I did The Kiss Of Deception. I found it a little slow-paced for my own liking, majority of the book was written to explain the back story of the Vendans, which I really appreciated. I appreciated that the back story wasn’t compromised, but then again I’ve been craving for some action, but this craving wasn’t really satisfied not until the end part of the book, which made a lot of difference, I think I held my breath more than humanly possible because of that ending. It was intense and gripping, it sure made up for all the dragging parts of the book.

I also like the mysterious “gift” part of the series plot though. A lot of it revolves around Venda, curiously. And yet, I feel more lost, in terms of Lia’s gift, and its connection to Venda. Hopefully all will be explained in book three.

So until then, let’s all hold hands just to get through this whole ordeal of waiting for the third book.

Ratings –

I’ll give this book  4/5 stars.

“Confluence-a coming together by chance.. Together they become something greater, but it isn’t delicate or sweet. Like a raging river, a confluence can lead to something impossible to predict or control… Yet sometimes the coming together, the confluence of destinies, seemed not to be by chance at all.”

Book Review – The Wrath and the Dawn by Renne Ahdieh

Hey Guys!, it’s October and I finally got over my reading slumps!. yeh!!!…I ‘m so happy, I’m already in love with October.I didn’t read much last month cause of my busy schedule and stupid reading slumps, So I’ll try to do better this month.

About The Book

Shahrzad is determined not only to stay alive, but to end the caliph’s reign of terror once and for all.

Night after night, Shahrzad beguiles Khalid, weaving stories that enchant, ensuring her survival, though she knows each dawn could be her last. But something she never expected begins to happen: Khalid is nothing like what she’d imagined him to be. This monster is a boy with a tormented heart. Incredibly, Shahrzad finds herself falling in love. How is this possible? It’s an unforgivable betrayal. Still, Shahrzad has come to understand all is not as it seems in this palace of marble and stone. She resolves to uncover whatever secrets lurk and, despite her love, be ready to take Khalid’s life as retribution for the many lives he’s stolen. Can their love survive this world of stories and secrets?

My Thoughts

I absolutely adored this book, it has  such a strong storyline , characters, twists and plots. It has everything to make you fall in love with it.

Renee Ahdieh is brilliant!!… I flipped through the pages so quickly. I felt so many emotions and even felt conflicted sometimes. I love it when a story does that.

The ones who says Revenge only results in sadness should definitely read it because revenge plays a very vital part in it.Cause of revenge they met and fell in love. The story begins with the hatred.Hatred for a monstrous king- Kalid whom Shahrzad married to take revenge of her best friend’s murder but she slowly she fell in love with him.But The real story begins now!.The truth about the king,The curse?.The betrayal. It just keep getting better.

Can’t wait to read the next one in series as it is already out.I’m so curious but I’ll have to wait a little.

  • Characters I Loved –

I loved  almost all the characters but my favorite ones were Shahrzad(A really strong, fearless and lively girl), Jalal (in the beginning he’s a little annoying but you’ll love him at the end.) and Obviously Khalid.

Book Review – IGNITE ME by Tahereh Mafi (spoiler free)

Yehh!……I’m so happy i finished this series but, sad too cause it’s over. It’s a bittersweet feeling.

So, If you have no idea about this series check out my reviews about shatter me (1 book) and unravel me(2 book). For those who read unravel me-With Omega Point destroyed, Juliette doesn’t know if the rebels, her friends, or even Adam are alive. But that won’t keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all. Now she must rely on Warner, the handsome commander of Sector 45. The one person she never thought she could trust. The same person who saved her life. He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world . . . but that’s not all he wants with her.

As always there’s a lot of romance drama going on but you may be surprised to see between who but it was kind of clear in unravel me that not much was happening between Adam and Juliette so it’s doesn’t came as a twist. As i told you in the unravel me review i already liked Warner more than Adam so i was happy to see Warner’s character mingling with Juliette. It was kind of sweet.

Juliette’s character has evolved a lot in this in book and now I loved her like hell. She’s strong, fierce and mind blowing. Not just her character has evolved but her powers also advances.Warner on the other hand now seems a perfect match for her as his powers taking capabilities are awesome. He’s not mean anymore. His acts which seems non-human before are justified in this book. There’s a total character change of two people. One you already know is Warner and i don’t wanna spoil the other one. Kenji was as always so funny and lovely he’s the best.Total mood changer. He have supported Juliette a lot in this book.Adam found out in the previous book that Warner and he are brothers but Warner didn’t know till now.Well in this book he will and Warner’s reaction will be shocking.Warner shocked a lot in this book.

There’s a lot of action, drama, romance going, you”ll love it.I felt the ending was a little rushed and I mean yeah we like happy ending but i was expecting it to be bomb blasting types you know actually it was bomb blasting but i mean a little unexpected but it was fine.I loved it anyway.

I’ll give this book a 4/5 star and strongly recommend this series.đź’ś

BOOK REVIEW-THE CROWN by Kiera Cass (spoiler free)

I did it!, I finally finished it.I’ll miss this series and specially the covers. They are so pretty. To be frank i didn’t enjoy the The Heir that much but The Crown was better.

When Eadlyn became the first princess of Illéa to hold her own Selection, she didn’t think she would fall in love with any of her thirty-five suitors. She spent the first few weeks of the competition counting down the days until she could send them all home. But as events at the palace force Eadlyn even further into the spotlight, she realizes that she might not be content remaining alone.Eadlyn still isn’t sure she’ll find the fairy tale ending her parents did twenty years ago. But sometimes the heart has a way of surprising you…and soon Eadlyn must make a choice that feels more impossible—and more important—than she ever imagined.

This has both served me well and disappointed me depending on which book in the series I am reviewing, as some of the books (The Selection, The One, The Heir) I’ve found decent, quick reads, while others (The Elite, the novellas, etc.) were a chore to read. I went into The Crown with high hopes, seeing as I much preferred Eadlyn to America as a protagonist, and there wasn’t that over the top angst love triangle to suffer through.

I liked the inversion of having a selection with male suitors, and the unique challenges and situations that it brought to the story. However, at the end of the day I found myself struggling to finish The Crown, which had the paradoxical feeling of being a slow read with a plot resolution that was far too fast.

The Crown isn’t a bad book, but it’s a book that did itself a disservice by the lack of focus on The Selection and cramming all of the interesting plot twists and resolutions into the last 20 pages. At the end of the day, at least I have a series of beautiful covers sitting on my shelf.

But again it’s my opinion.I’ll give 3/5 stars to this book.

BOOK REVIEW-The Heir by kiera cass (spoiler free)

The Heir-Comparing it with the previous one, i’ll say it was okay.To be frank i didn’t enjoy it as the previous one’s.The selection is my personal favorite and i’m not saying this one is bad but it’s not that good.

Princess Eadlyn has grown up hearing endless stories about how her mother and father met. Twenty years ago, America Singer entered the Selection and won the heart of Prince Maxon—and they lived happily ever after. Eadlyn has always found their fairy-tale story romantic, but she has no interest in trying to repeat it. If it were up to her, she’d put off marriage for as long as possible.
But a princess’s life is never entirely her own, and Eadlyn can’t escape her very own Selection—no matter how fervently she protests.
Eadlyn doesn’t expect her story to end in romance. But as the competition begins, one entry may just capture Eadlyn’s heart, showing her all the possibilities that lie in front of her . . . and proving that finding her own happily ever after isn’t as impossible as she’s always thought.

America’s character was so loving i instantly loved her and all other characters.I had a bad time loving Eadlyn. She’s strong meant to be a queen, see’s herself as very powerful, confident person and that are good things but she see’s people as subjects, very confused about her own feelings.I also didn’t like the selected boys that much. They don’t have anything special and i barely connect with single one of them.

Well their are so many similar things with little changes from previous one’s to this.Like first obviously girls were fighting for boys and now boys are.But in previous one’s i know each and every girl’s characters, there good as well as bad faces. And everyone has different story whereas, in the heir i still don’t remember all of them.their is only kile whom i like a little and who is a little deserving. Maxon’s outing were so new and cool and Eadlyn outing is a show where not much is different.

I like the idea of rebels entering and a little bit of adventure along with the romance in the first three books whereas in the heir their is no such thing.Although it’s not completely bad it is a little boring in the between but it’s ending came with the twist and i seriously hope the next  book will be more good.

The characters that i like are Eadlyn’s brother, kile, erik. I’ll give this book 3/5 stars.

BOOK REVIEW-UNRAVEL ME by Tahereh Mafi (spoiler free)

FINALLY!…. I Unraveled this one.Well this book must be cursing me cause she waited a long to be read by me but it’s okay i finally unraveled you.So coming to the point-I LIKED IT.

If you haven’t started this series and know nothing about it.I’ll recommend you to first read Shatter me (spoiler free) review.I do a lot of spoiler free review cause i hate when i get spoiled, i just hate it(okay here i’m diverging from the point).

So as you recall  Juliette escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.
She’s finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

Well i really liked it, Tahereh have changed a lot of things in the second book specially juliette and Warner’s character. As Juliette was shown as an introvert, scared girl who is more scared from herself, her touch. In second book she finally grown into this strong ,confident woman who takes control over her life and becoming a hero to saved others life by kicking a lot of asses where as, Warner’s character has shown little good, hot and generous although he still love power more than anything else.

Juliette figured that her touch is just a part of her gift and she could do a lot of other stuff.New thing about Adam is he too have powers and if we talk about Warner he’s a hell lot sexy than he seems and he have powers too. Yeah, everybody have powers now that seems fair.Their are some mind blowing twist and you’ll be like what?.Really? so be prepared for them.

About the love triangle it’s so damn confusing.Adam and juliette are facing a lot of problems and adam still hopes that they can figure out a way and work it out but their are things that juliette is not telling adam and that sure would become something.Juliette is really confused between warner and adam .As she loves adam but her feelings for warner has also changed. You’ll see a lot of romance between juliette and adam, juliette and Warner (This girl has a lethal touch but she’s getting a lot of boyfriend options- Just kidding!).But whatever Warner’s lines with juliette are the most aww.. moments.

The characters that i love are obviously Kenji, James and Warner (shocking right!)Yes you read that correct- Warner. His character’s personality have changed like 360 degree and i like him so much.I don’t know i should like him more then Adam or not but i can’t help it.I really hope he be this good and hot in next book too.About Kenji-I love kenji he’s so funny his line really made me laugh and his powers are super cool.Overall i’ll give this book 4/5 stars.

Thank you reading 💜.

Glass Sword(Red Queen #2) by Victoria Aveyard (Spoiler free)

If there’s one thing Mare Barrow knows, it’s that she’s different.

Mare Barrow’s blood is red—the color of common folk—but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control.

The crown calls her an impossibility, a fake, but as she makes her escape from Maven, the prince—the friend—who betrayed her, Mare uncovers something startling: she is not the only one of her kind.

Pursued by Maven, now a vindictive king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors.

But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat.

Will she shatter under the weight of the lives that are the cost of rebellion? Or have treachery and betrayal hardened her forever?

The electrifying next installment in the Red Queen series escalates the struggle between the growing rebel army and the blood-segregated world they’ve always known—and pits Mare against the darkness that has grown in her soul.

I started reading this book four days back and it’s wasn’t an easy one to complete.I was reading it along with rebel of the sand which was around 300 pages and i read that in a flash. But this one time taking cause it has so much action right from the starting.I liked red queen so much and i was eagerly waiting for reading this one. and the wait was worth. It has so much action, adventure, drama, betrayals it’s amazing. As you recall Red Queen‘s tragic ending where shade(mare’s brother) and scarlet guard saved cal and mare from Maven’s death arena.Glass sword started from where red queen ended the action didn’t stop but it’s level upgraded.Maven’s unstoppable efforts to kill cal and mare increases.Mare’s got a new mission-To find all people like her and shade (red and silver) which they call newbloods and protect them from maven. They are slowly forming a new team of newbloods.

This book can have a second name “Betrayals”.It has so many betrayals that i can’t trust the next new character who comes into play.Their are so many and new characters and love how victoria manages to make them all stand alone so gracefully.

About the love triangle between Cal, Mare and Kilron it just became more complicated. One side Mare think that kilron is his responsibility and she have to save him from everything and on the other hand she don’t want cal to go away. He’s the only person she trust and the only person who understand her and her powers.Even though cal knows he has no place in the scarlet guard and mostly everyone hates him cause he’s a silver but he stick with them for mare and for killing maven.

And the ending Hell! the ending is so damn good.I just can’t wait for another book.I want it now.I always hate this part when i love the book so much but have to wait a whole year for the next one. This series is just getting better.Well i felt really bad for the one’s who die and the ending i don’t wanna spoil the ending, cause it’s the great part.

I’ll give this book 5/5 stars and can’t wait for another one.Love you Victoria Ayeyard.

Thank you for reading!
